Mom had a procedure today to insert another tube to drain an additional pocket of infection that was found. It went very well, and her doctors are optimistic about her making a full recovery from these infections. When I talked with Mom this evening, she sounded better and more alert than she has all week. She's been doing some walking on her own with the walker, even today after the procedure, and the sound of determination is back in her voice. She's retaining some fluid because of her lack of movement, and I think that has motivated her to get moving around, even if on her own when the therapists don't come by. I haven't been able to see her for a couple of days because I've been sick myself, but Dad was here with her today and felt very good about his conversation with the doctors. They are still working on arrangements to move her to an inpatient facility in Bryan for recovery and physical therapy when the infections are gone/under control and the drains are removed.
