Mom is now in the Physical Therapy area of MD Anderson (room P817). She is getting PT three times a day. She remains on IV antibiotics. For now, it does not look like a surgical procedure will be necessary to clean out the infection pockets, which are still draining. Her blood counts remain stable, and the fact that it is taking so long to fight off these infections is neither a surprise nor a concern, per the doctors.
Overall, I'd say she is about the same, though she is sounding a lot better, and it sure is good to see her sitting in her wheelchair rather than laying in bed. She does need her rest, and she is getting plenty of it, and very soundly from what she says. The PT sessions are very tiring, but she will adapt and get stronger.
I've heard she'll be in PT for a couple of weeks, which may or may not be the case depending on her progress and status of the infections. I suppose after this, she will be released to a place in Bryan to continue her intensive therapy.
